Disability organization innovates to recruit, retain quality employees
Staff retention is a major challenge for organizations that support people with disabilities. Partly due to rising demand and stagnant wages, as well as the common perception that this kind of work is temporary, these organizations are constantly struggling to fill positions. However, some organizations are finding new, creative ways to solve this issue.

What does it take to be a radical community artist?
Xochi de la Luna, a 28-year-old Minneapolis, Minnesota-based performance artist, often found themself performing and auditioning for crowds that were fairly homogenous. "I had to try harder to relate to an audience that here in Minnesota is usually White and male--they don't understand my jokes as much," Xochi shares with reporter Rachel Lieberman. The last few years, Xochi's devoted themself to creating new community arts spaces for Black, Brown, Indigenous, Trans, Queer, and female artists, and more people have started to take notice.

Despite efforts to increase affordable housing, homelessness remains prevalent
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development counted nearly 7,000 people who experience homelessness in Minnesota. The reasons? A lack of affordable housing, employment and discrimination. Even for homeless people who work, the gap between living on the streets and living in a house is often insurmountable.
